Change requests may have two different kinds of approvers:
Department Approvers
The required approving departments on a change request are determined by the types of documents included in the change request and the Document Type definitions at Configure Document Control > Configure Document Types > Edit <document-type>.

Additional Approvers
The number of additional approvers on a change request is determined by a configuration option at Configure Document Control > Configure Document Control Process Options.
Configuration Option
At GAS 16.0 and later releases, the maximum number of additional approvers on a change request is 10.
At GAS 15.6 and earlier releases, the maximum number of additional approvers on a change request is 8.
