Customers have asked whether Grand Avenue can insert a watermark, timestamp, or other text into document files to indicate that the document has been released and, potentially, downloaded from an electronic document control system.
By design, the Grand Avenue application has no ability to modify the contents of document files. Each file uploaded to Grand Avenue is stored as a binary image in the database and always retrieved as an exact copy of the original to ensure no corruption or loss of information.
Instead of adding timestamps or watermarks to document files, Grand Avenue encourages customers to implement a policy that the electronic system is the system of record. Employees may download and print documents, but they should always be verified against the current revision in Grand Avenue before being used.
