How do I extend the due date of a deviation?

A deviation request’s Estimated Expiration Date is only an initial estimate and does not control the effectivity of the deviation. When a deviation releases, the system automatically generates a Close Deviation task. A document control coordinator then assigns that task to someone responsible for monitoring the deviation’s effectivity conditions and closing the deviation when the effectivity conditions no longer apply.

The only purpose of the Estimated Expiration Date is to set the default due date for the Close Deviation task.

Deviations remain open and effective until the assignee of the corresponding Close Deviation task signs it off.

After the Estimated Expiration Date passes, the Close Deviation task will become overdue.

If needed, the due date of the Close Deviation task can be extended by performing the steps below. This will not update the Estimated Expiration Date in the deviation record.

  1. Under Administrative Actions, click Manage Task Assignments.
