Using the Defer option for a Task Assignment does not change the due date of the task. It allows a user to place a deferral on a task, which moves it from their main Task Assignments table to the Deferred Task Assignments table.  This deferral feature allows users to visually manage their task assignments page. The user is still responsible for completing deferred assignments by the specified Task Due Date.

The deferred task assignments will appear red once the due date has passed, since the task is overdue. 

To change the due date of a task, a System Administrator or applicable Module Administrator would need to update the due date by using the Manage Task Assignments feature within the Administrative Actions menu.  From the Manage Task Assignments page, the administrator would select View Tasks for the user the task is assigned to, and then select Change Due Date for the applicable task.

Note: There is an option to change multiple due dates at once for a user at the bottom of the page.
