Can I use the Administrator user account?

The user account with a User ID of "Administrator" is the default (“bootstrap”) account created when Grand Avenue is initially installed (before other user accounts are created). The account itself has no special permissions other than that it can't be deactivated; other users assigned the System Administrator role have exactly the same permissions.

On-premise Grand Avenue Installations

For on-premise (non-hosted) installations, customers are free to use the Administrator account. Keep in mind, however, that for 21 CFR Part 11 (Electronic Records; Electronic Signatures) compliance, account sharing between individuals is not permitted.

Hosted Grand Avenue Installations

The System Administrator account is reserved for use by GAS customer support personnel for performing maintenance on hosted systems (e.g. verifying upgrades, running reports, etc.), and shouldn't be used for any other purpose, including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Assigning additional roles and responsibilities

  • Assigning tasks

  • Assigning training requirements

  • Changing the password

  • Changing the email address

  • Configuring a time-based one-time password (TOTP)
